We all love to be successful and have a great and comfortable life fulfilling all that we desire but unknowingly we create our own obstacles from creating the same life. Constantly doubting our own abilities, Giving up just before reaching the goal, procrastinating our work, avoiding opportunities etc. This  behaviour is called self sabotage the unconscious act of interfering with your own growth, happiness, and success.

Self sabotage can be due to various reasons like childhood experiences, past relationships, low self-esteem, or struggles with coping and conflicting thoughts. It often appears as Fear of taking action, poor health habits, avoiding opportunities, perfectionism etc.

Our brain has a primary mission and that is to keep us safe. Unfortunately, the brain often confuses “familiar” with “safe.” Even if your current situation is painful, it is familiar. Any significant change—even a positive one—can feel threatening.

How do we break the cycle?

  • Build awareness and notice the pattern
  • Identifying the fear. Ask questions to yourself (eg. if I succeed what am I afraid will happen). The answers often reveal the hidden barrier.
  • Challenging limiting beliefs Replace assumptions with evidence.(Instead of: “I can’t do this.” Ask: “What proof do I have?”)
  • Take Imperfect action (Small and consistent steps are more powerful than waiting for the correct time)
  • Practice Self Compassion Being kind and accepting ourselves makes us more persistent
  • Create a new identity . Instead of telling that want to be successful. Believe and behave that you are already successful

Success is rarely blocked by external factors alone. Transformation doesn’t happen when life changes, It happens when each one of us change from within.
